Lawsuits Against Roblox for Child Explotation

Lawsuits are being filed rampantly across the country against the video game platform Roblox for their failure to protect young children from exploitation and grooming by sexual predators while playing their games. Roblox, which advertises itself as a safe and secure game platform for children, has been manipulating young people, have been using psychological tricks to persuade increased use of their products, and have miserably failed to protect thousands of young and at-risk users. Parents were kept in the dark about the dangers of these games due to the heavy advertising directed at children, thinking it was safe and that regulations would be in place to protect their children.

Fortunately, the facts are coming to light; however, the consequences are devastating. What Is Happening to Our Children On Roblox?

A lawsuit filed by the family of a 10-year-old girl claims that she was approached by a predator on the Roblox platform’s chat feature. They persuaded her to begin a private chat with them on a different platform called Discord, resulting in her being groomed to the point of sending nude photographs to this predator. This person pretended to be a teenager and tricked this child into believing it. In another case, it escalated to the point where a man groomed a 13-year-old girl in a similar fashion and then travelled to her house and sexually assaulted her. Roblox is a “playground for predators” because they know that these children are vulnerable and will not be protected by Roblox itself. These are just two examples of the type of dangers that our children are facing on Roblox and does not skim the surface of the damage already done. Numerous children have been lured from their homes, abducted, and raped by these predators across the country.

One of the most appalling instances of Roblox’s protection of predators stemmed from a prominent case where a man, known on YouTube as “Schlep” decided to become a “predator hunter” on Roblox after being groomed on Roblox himself as a child. This grooming activity caused significant trauma to him, and his goal was to protect other children from the same fate. After seeking out and exposing these predators for some time, Roblox found out and in August 2025 sent Schlep a letter demanding that he stop his “vigilante campaign” and then banned him from their platform, threatening to sue him. They did not ban any of the predators identified and allow them to continue this patten of behavior. This is an egregious and intentional act by Roblox to silence victims and to continue to reap the profits. Roblox did this after numerous lawsuits had already been filed against them out of numerous states and is a clear attempt to hide their knowledge of this disgusting behavior. A California Judge has already denied Roblox’s attempts to hide these lawsuits to force private resolution, keeping these acts in the public eye.

Roblox’s “failures” were intentional. They have also made numerous attempts to keep these lawsuits quiet and out of the public eye in order to protect their own interests. Financial exploitation is also a motive for Roblox as they constantly encourage children to purchase new games and participate in dangerous activities for profit. It is worth noting that the third-party applications including Discord, Meta, and Snapchat could also face liability for permitting these communications to continue outside of Roblox itself.
